Marissa & Alex had an intimate wedding just outside of Mount Rainier National Park at a cozy river cabin, and their plans were simple and intentional from the start. From top to bottom, everything they planned was intentional. They wanted to have a quiet morning getting ready separately, and share a first look on the river. Followed up by adventuring around Mount Rainier, and an emotional ceremony shared with their closest family members. During the ceremony, each family member had an opportunity to share a speech about the relationship, and there wasn’t a dry eye in attendance. The reception was simple, relaxing, and fun as well. We shared smoked fish and steak, yard jenga, dancing, and they played the shoe game (more on that later).
The next day, we had a cozy session inside the cabin, and went to a nearby swimming hole for more fun. It was early July, and the weather couldn’t have been more perfect.
I’ll always be grateful for couples like Marissa & Alex. Their down to earth, fun loving and thoughtful attitudes helped everyone have an incredible day. From the bottom of my heart, we connected like old high school friends and I couldn’t imagine having a better couple.
After their sneak peek, they left the sweetest review. “When Alex and I started looking for a photographer to capture our elopement, it was important for us to find someone we really clicked with and could easily imagine them fitting in with us and our family (since our day was intimate with only immediate family in attendance). Emett was that person. Not only is he an incredible talent (we are in love with the photos he took), but he put us at ease and everything was stress free when working with him. He truly went above and beyond for us, and he managed to capture all of the emotions and special moments, big and small, that will have us reliving our day over and over. Hire Emett – you will not regret it!”

The three of us were in love with the foggy and moody weather, even though the mountains weren’t out. The lake was incredibly quiet and peaceful, and gave us so much freedom to take photos everywhere. Without anyone else around, it was so easy for them to relax and be themselves.
Afterwards, we went back to their cabin for their vow writing, ceremony, and reception!
The shoe game! Honestly – it’s a hysterical wedding tradition and a lot of fun. The couple has a shoe from each partner, and one person will announce questions like “which one is the better cook?” or “which one is messier?” and each partner holds up a shoe corresponding to who they think is the fitting partner. Wedding guests get to be a peanut gallery, chime in their own answer, and have fun with it!
Then I had to snag a few more portraits in front of their romantic cabin with the lights and candles going!
The next day, we collectively decided to have a day after session! Cozy and a little steamy at the cabin, and a lot of fun at a nearby swimming hole!
