Dockside at Dukes is one of the best wedding venues in Seattle! When Jake & Farin inquired with me (after being referred to by their wonderful planner, Megan @ Clutch Events), I was ecstatic. Their outdoor ceremony area features a beautiful backdrop. A large tree, natural fence, and stunning view of Lake Union. Their reception area is large, with a wall of windows overlooking the water. If that wasn’t enough, they have phenomenal, west coast food and an abundance of information and amenities on their website;
All things considered, I don’t think I’d ever get tired of photographing weddings at Dockside at Dukes!
Jake & Farin wanted to show their friends and family what Seattle is all about! Showcasing the stunning scenery of downtown Seattle, they got ready at Pan Pacific Hotel with their friends and wedding party. They shared a first look, some fun candid moments and uber’d to the venue. They featured Jewish traditions in their ceremony and reception, and ultimately focused on having a good time. The food was absolutely to die for. Fish and steak filets, and lobster bisque – mmmm!
Before we get to too much further, we gotta give credit where it’s due! To the wonderful wedding vendors that made their day happen.

Farin & Jake got ready separately. Farin got ready with her friends at Pan Pacific Hotel, and Jake got ready with his friends at their home in Fremont. After getting photos of Farin, her dress and her friends – Jake came to the hotel so they could share a first look. Their friends eagerly waited in the extra room of their suite, and came out to say hi when their first look was over! The two of them have such outgoing, positive energy – that the entire day felt like a dance party.
After the “getting ready” portion of the day was over, everyone made their way to the venue. We got portraits and group photos taken care of, and they shared a beautiful ceremony on the water. If I remember correctly, Farin walked down the aisle to Lord Huron. They shared sweet, and funny, vows in front of their friends and family, and broke glass! Breaking of the glass symbolizes how precious relationships are, and reminds us to treat each other accordingly. Upon breaking the glass, everyone shouts “Mazel tov!” as a sign of good luck!
The reception was a ton of fun. The toasts/speeches were heartfelt and meaningful, the dancing was a blast, and the food was great. In Jewish tradition, the couple is lifted on their chairs by their friends and family, to symbolize their spiritual elevation on their wedding day!
If I have any of these traditions or their meaning incorrect, please let me know and I’ll be happy to update this article!
